The winner of the 20th Grand Prix de Chartres, Organist Dong-ill Shin won first prize in the national competition for piano sponsored by the Korean Times at the age of ten. Attracted by J.S. Bach’s Music and the orchestra-like colors produced by the organ, he began his organ studies at 14. Later at Yon-sei University in Seoul he completed his Bachelor of Music degree in 1997. His studies continued with Olivier Latry at the Conservatoire. He also undertook private studies with Mme. Marie-Claire Alain. He has given numerous concerts worldwide and involved with numerous music festivals. Shin is currently the Organist/Artist in Residence at First United Methodist Church of Hurst, Texas, and adjunct professor of organ at Texas Wesleyan University.

Marnie Giesbrecht and Joachim Segger are duo Majoya and this is a second engagement as part of the Westminster Concert Organ Series. Their duo repertoire includes organ duets as well as organ and piano duets. The concert programs are eclectic and innovative featuring original and commissioned works, transcriptions, jazz, and improvisations. Both are regular performers in the Winspear Centre for Music in Edmonton and the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary. Giesbrecht and Segger direct the music at First Presbyterian Church in Edmonton, Alberta. Read More...

Creation in Progress

On Sunday February 22nd at
2:30 pm, Canadian organist Rachel Laurin will present “Creation in
Progress”, the second in this year’s Organ Series
Concerts. Ms. Laurin will present works by Buxtehude, Bach and
Daveluy, along with a selection of her own compositions, and will
