Welcome to worship at Westminster Church. If you are worshipping with us for the first time, we hope you will sign the guest book in the lobby and stop by the “Welcome Table”. Please help yourself to any of the materials and information provided. You may also wish to fill in a “Welcome to Westminster” card to be found in the pews and place it on the offering plate or give it to an usher. As we are able to be of help, we look forward to doing so.
New to Westminster? Never joined us for coffee before? Don’t hesitate to come! To find the lecture hall, go through the door to the left of the choir loft. For a guaranteed conversation, look for today’s host who will be wearing a name tag featuring a coffee cup logo.
Greeters: As you came into the church this morning Ron Clements and Ted Barnett greeted you.
Congratulations to Lincoln and Lori Atten who were married here at Westminster Church yesterday. We wish them God’s blessings in their life together.
In hospital this week: Carol Burns (Riverview) and David Swan (Victoria). Let’s keep them in our prayers.
This week in the Winnipeg Presbytery prayer cycle, please remember the people and work of the Harrow United Church.

Today’s Communion Offering: Envelopes for this special offering are on the Narthex and Hallway tables. The June and August Communion Offerings will be pooled and shared equally between the Conference Bursary Fund and Alpha House.
The Bursary Fund provides annual financial support to persons from this Conference who are in training for the ministry. Members of Westminster who have been assisted by Bursary Fund grants in recent years are Patricia Baker (McMahon) who is now ministering At Gordon King Memorial Church and Greg Parker who is now ministering in the Foremost-Macklin Pastoral Charge which has congregations in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Alpha House is an organization providing homes for women and children who have left abusive relationships. They can be accommodated for up to nine months in one of seven fully furnished apartments in a safe, protective environment. The House is more than just a place to live, delivering programs and providing one-on-one counseling services to help women and children regain their self-esteem, heal from the trauma they have endured, and become self-reliant members of the community.
WESTMINSTER PONDERS ITS FUTURE
The following recommendation was adopted by the Congregation back in Jan. 2010 … “That Westminster United Church General Board request assistance from Presbytery to form a working/task group consisting of resource people from Presbytery and members of the congregation with a mandate to:
- engage the congregation in a conversation about future directions, vision, and mission, including worship, Christian education, pastoral care, stewardship/finances and outreach components, taking into account the responses received by the current JNAC
- make recommendations regarding the kind of church God is calling Westminster to be in 2010 and beyond, and the implications for staffing needs”
In order to prepare for these upcoming discussions, the committee would like you to reflect upon and ponder this question: "What Is The Church?".
West Broadway Community Ministry is always in need of coffee, tea, whitener, sweetener, sugar, mayo, peanut butter and canned fish or meat. Your donations are most appreciated. Please see the bulletin boards for other items that are in demand at West Broadway Community Ministry.
