Welcome to worship at Westminster Church. If you are worshipping with us for the first time, we hope you will sign the guest book in the lobby and stop by the “Welcome Table”. Please help yourself to any of the materials and information provided. You may also wish to fill in a “Welcome to Westminster” card to be found in the pews and place it on the offering plate or give it to an usher. As we are able to be of help, we look forward to doing so.

Westminster Church is pleased to announce that Jana Venter will be our new Youth Leader starting in Sept.! She brings enthusiasm and a variety of experiences to the position. This is what she says about herself ...

"I think being an immigrant to Canada qualifies me for working with our young adults in a unique sense: I kind of experienced adolescence twice! Or at least some of the feelings involved: wanting to belong and trying to find myself in a strange, new environment. And trying to do this as a Christian in a secular world can be very challenging. I want the youth group at our church to be a safe place for young people to ask questions, and a open space for discussions ranging from the latest book craze to friends to what colour crayon you'd like to be when you grow up - and why!"
In her free time, she loves reading, dancing with her two young girls, and sewing. And she does not like cooking.
URGENT - PAKISTAN APPEAL
In response to the heavy monsoon flooding in Pakistan and the unprecedented human and environmental crisis it has created there, The United Church of Canada has issued a special church-wide appeal calling its members to donate to "Pakistan Flood Relief." Funds that are raised are being used by United Church partners ACT Alliance (Action by Churches Together, the network of churches and Christian aid agencies that enables global responses to emergencies) and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank for immediate relief and long-term accompaniment. The Government of Canada recently announced it will match private donations to registered charities. It is important to note that unlike many charities, and thanks to regular donations to the Mission and Service Fund, the United Church is able to absorb the staffing and administration costs of processing donations whenever an emergency appeal is launched. Therefore donors can be assured that there are no administrative charges deducted from donations received.
Cheques should be made payable to United Church of Canada, Pakistan Flood Relief.
West Broadway Community Ministry is always in need of coffee, tea, whitener, sweetener, sugar, mayo, peanut butter and canned fish or meat. Your donations are most appreciated. Please see the bulletin boards for other items that are in demand at West Broadway Community Ministry.
The 82nd Westminster Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will hold their registration evening on Tuesday, 7 Sept in the Lecture Hall from 6:30 - 7:30PM.

Prairie Theatre Exchange opens its new season with The Savannah Disputation from October 13 to 31. A perky young Pentecostal missionary gets more than she bargained for when she drops in on two Catholic sisters and sparks a crisis of faith. The sisters enlist the help of their parish priest, throwing a truly entertaining dinner party that sets the scene for a theological smack down of Biblical proportions. The Savannah Disputation has been a smash hit across the U.S. “It made me laugh my head off and think at the same time.” – New York Daily News
4, 5 and 6 play subscriptions, starting at $99, are currently on sale through the PTE box office. Tickets for The Savannah Disputation go on sale Monday, September 13. Call 942-5483 or visit www.pte.mb.ca.
See the posters on Narthex and Hallway bulletin boards for more information.
